VINO Exclusive: Miss BVI contestant - Lavanta Thompson
The 27-year old beauty, originally from Horse Path, Road Town, Tortola, is currently the Administration Officer and personal assistant to the Chairman of the Law Reform Commission.
In the near future, she sees herself as an entrepreneur owning her own wellness facility and being a professional Massage Therapist.
Entering the pageant, Lavanta said it is a wonderful opportunity for any young lady to gain self development.
She added that it is a dream for her to be able to represent her country.
“I hope to get self-development from this show, because entering a show of this prestige, there is so much you have to work on. Anyone coming out of this show is guaranteed to be a better person.”
Ms. Thompson has entered one show prior to Miss BVI, which was the Miss Public Servant Pageant in 2008. “I did not place, but that was me getting my feet wet in pageantry.”
According to Lavanta, what sets her apart from the other contestants, giving her the extra push closer to winning the crown, is the fact that she is older and more mature than the other contestants.
“What sets me apart from the other contestants is the fact that I am older and more mature. I have experience in speech, fashion and I have confidence in myself, and I will use these to my advantage.”
Her favourite quote is, “Life is like a rush of water, from a broken dam, ever flowing and ever changing.”
The pageant is scheduled to take place at the Multipurpose Sports Complex on August 5, 2012.
