VI youth to rep British Caribbean Territories @ World Meteorological Congress in Geneva

According to the Caribbean Meteorological Organisation, in a press release on October 17, 2025, since being appointed in January 2025, Ms Magloire has actively advanced youth participation within WMO, noting that, “Meteorology is a field I am deeply passionate about, and I am truly honoured to have been given the opportunity to contribute as a Youth Focal Point”.
Due to her role in the development of the WMO Youth Action Plan, Ms Magloire has been invited to participate in the Extraordinary World Meteorological Congress 2025, being held from October 20-23, 2025, in Geneva and online, as a delegate of the British Caribbean Territories (BCT).
The WMO Youth Action Plan, which is scheduled to be adopted by the Extraordinary World Meteorological Congress, is a landmark framework that will guide the engagement and empowerment of young professionals across the global weather, water, and climate community.
According to the CMO, it aims to ensure that youth voices are integrated into WMO’s institutional, technical, and governance processes, strengthening climate action and decision-making for future generations.
'Energy, creativity & commitment'
“Youth engagement is essential to the sustainability and innovation of weather, water, and climate services,” said Dr Arlene Laing, Coordinating Director of the CMO and Permanent Representative of the British Caribbean Territories with WMO.
“Ms Magloire’s leadership reflects the energy, creativity, and commitment of Caribbean youth in shaping the future of meteorology and climate resilience.”
As the region’s Youth Focal Point with WMO, Ms Magloire will have a formal voice to support the implementation of the Youth Action Plan within RA IV. She has already contributed to consultations on the Youth Action Plan; helped promote the 2025 Caribbean Lightning Safety Awareness Contest; and conducted a summer youth programme in the Virgin Islands to raise awareness on climate resilience and safety, in collaboration with their Ministry of Climate, Collage Mangrove Project, Solar Energy, Seven Seas Water Group, Department of Disaster Management, British Virgin Islands Airport Authority Meteorological Team, and the Water and Sewerage Department.
She plans to share her experiences with other WMO Members in the Caribbean to help inspire more youth engagement.
The creation of Youth Focal Points is part of WMO’s strategic shift toward structured, meaningful youth engagement, aligning with the UN Youth Strategy 2030 and the Pact for the Future adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2024.
The CMO commends Ms Magloire for her work and congratulates her on contributing to the WMO Youth Action Plan.
"Her leadership exemplifies the Organisation’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and building capacity across generations in weather, water, and climate services," the CMO said.
