MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA- Bermuda’s Minister for Home Affairs, Hon Alexa N.H. Lightborne, has said the Virgin Islands (VI) can only be better following the conclusion of the implementation of the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) reforms.

Speaking to Director of Communications Mrs Karia J. Christopher in Montego Bay, Jamaica, recently, Hon Lightborne opined that “after the rain, there comes a rainbow”.

Hon Lightborne was attending the 49th Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government, from July 6 to 8, 2025, in Jamaica.

She, like other regional government officials from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), voiced her support for Premier and Minister of Finance Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), his Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government, and, most importantly, the people of the Virgin Islands.

Bermuda is also a United Kingdom Overseas Territory and an Associate Member state of CARICOM.

The region, community & the world would be better

“After any sort of tumultuous environment, there are things it can evolve to so I want to say to continue the course, that is redefining what the Virgin Islands is known for, a pivot back to what we know for sure you can do well,” Hon Lightborne advised, when asked about her opinion on the VI being able to implement the CoI and being in the final stages.

In doing so, she added, the region, community and the world would “be better for it”.

The Virgin Islands, as well as, will become more familiar to people worldwide as a result.

Earlier this week, July 14 and 15, 2025, Premier Wheatley met with the Minister for the Overseas Territories, the Honourable Stephen J. Doughty, and other UK Government officials. The meetings were part of the ongoing dialogue between the Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom on governance reform and other bilateral issues.

Lots of maneuvering. All these voices being called in by the Wheatley boys in an attempt to replace the voice of the VI people.
It is for the VI people to decide on independence not random leaders of the Caribbean. These guys beeing called on by Natalio.

Only voices important are the voices of the vI people.

We are being manipulated by the Boys.

All these people who don’t live here but who say what they think would be best for our country should just keep their opinions to themselves.
