VI volleyballers off to ECVA Olympic Qualifiers

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Nine young men departed the territory this morning, Thursday July 7, 2016 for Antigua to represent the [British] Virgin Islands (VI) at the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-23 Olympic Qualifiers.

The tournament represents the first round of qualifying and sees the VI start competition at 7:00 P.M. tonight against the hosts Antigua at the YMCA.

Also in the Group are St Maarten and the VI Boys will come up against them on Saturday July 9, 2016 at the same venue.

Group B includes St Lucia, Dominica, Bermuda and Grenada

The full VI squad :Paul Mourillon, Mikey Joseph, Marlon Burke, Clyde Potter Junior, Tyler Jackson, Ricky Singh, Lestin Wiltshire, Carldon Morton and Mortland Gordon

The Coach/Manager is Steven Payne.

The semi finals and finals as well as a classification match will all take place on Sunday July 10, 2016.

      are u guys serious, no practice, most of them not even play in the 2016 power league, but team still travelling, to do what, waste time and money, and then look who is the coach..man bvi volleyball association u all need to get serious!

        If you noticed those that didn't play in the power league don't live here they played for the Bvi before and every last one of those boys worked hard to even be considered. So please stop bashing them. Also the coach is great he is one of the best. You know nothing about there practices 'the rock'!

          u can fool the masses, but that team has only 2 members that played in the 2016 power league, the others just came back from overseas, how much practice they could of gotten inn, the coach knows nothing about the game I watch him coach all the time, I am a fan, a few fan that sport got and I am also a past volleyball player, my comments is to better the game not pull it down, esworth Phillips is a way better and u guys know that!~peace out!

      @ good, have nothing against the guy- honestly, but for a guy who does be around the court 24/7 , he is not ready, sorry to burst your bubbles, the volleyball association needs to be fair on they selection of coaches and managers of national teams, a coach from the league should be selected, maybe that's why the game sucks over here on Tola!
