ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands Volleyball Association (VIVA) in a continuation of its revamping and determination to re-establish Volleyball as a significant Sport in the Territory is attending the NORCECA Confederation XXII Congress in Tijuana, Mexico.

Following on from the donation of equipment to schools in the territory and instigating training programmes for P.E. Teachers and Coaches, VIVA has now sent the Secretary of the Association, Kisheba Sprauve, to the Congress which started with seminars on Marketing and Development Plans on Friday November 1, 2013.

The seminar was organized by President of the Development Commission of NORCECA and Secretary of the same kind of commission in FIVB, Mushtaque Mohammed. He was assisted by Nelson Ramirez and Yoana Mota, Director and Vice-Director respectively, of the Regional Development Center in the Dominican Republic.

Ms Carol Charles-Austin of Trinidad and Tobago was the lecturer on those topics and the participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, make questions during the very interactive sessions.

Charles-Austin began her exposition explaining the importance of strengthening the national volleyball federations with a better internal organisation and the selection of the right people for each position.

Then she continued with detailed information about the development of a marketing plan for the activities of the volleyball associations, making emphasis on the different targets and also the properties of the institution.

In the afternoon session, she explained to the audience how to prepare a development plan to be presented to governmental authorities and external agencies.

On the legal subject, Giovanni Gautreau and Jaime Lamboy spoke about all the modifications introduced to the constitution of FIVB during the past World Congress in Anaheim and the necessity to adapt NORCECA’s to the current legal situation.

Poor lind. Is cool to say that cause there is a lot of young talent out there. But we teach our young people so much crap that they feel that they can not show up to practices and camps and just automatically be on a team. Doesn't work so, talent alone don't get you there you got to put in the work like everyone else.
