ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Persons in the low flood-prone areas in the Virgin Islands (VI) are being urged to remain vigilant as a flash flood watch is in effect for tonight, October 27, 2023, until midnight the DDM said in an alert.

The alert which was issued via h the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services further detailed that the flash flood watch means that moderate to major flooding is possible but not imminent in the watch area, however, flash flooding remains a very dangerous situation.

“Residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas should make preparations for flooding to safeguard life and property. They should be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding rains develop or a flash flood warning is issued at short notice.”

The DDM alert added that a trough over islands is causing periodic heavy showers and possible rainfall totaling 2 to 4 inches is possible in the next 12 hours, hence, moderate to major flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas is possible.

Our News Centre will bring more information as it becomes available.

    Don't know how to take this, its been wrong most the time since before 2016. Antigua, getting it wrong for themselves. They didn't even know or predict or warned Barbudians of the danger of the Storm. It was all about Antigua. Bam, Barbuda get mashed up. Antigua get nothing. So this information we getting from Antigua. Hmmm. When Irma was blowing out my windows is when the message came in "Irma is directly over Anegada and Tortola must be prepare for a direct hit..Anyway, their jobs is to relay the information and our Jib is to prepare. Will do just that with much doubt.

    Twitter, face book, yutube, every TV and radio station and all of them saying something different. When we had the weather Channel alone to depend on in the 90s and early 2000s, they were getting it right.. Now so many competition most of them are over hyping and sensationalizing just for likes and precriptions..

    Can't we just stop turning everything into.a debate? Meteorology is science and very often weather forecasters can get it wrong. I am relieved that someone did not blame colonization for this forecast ;
