CHICAGO, Illinois, USA- With the Anegada Lobster Festival fast approaching, the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is turning up the heat in Chicago, Illinois, to promote the Territory’s signature culinary celebration.

As part of its US outreach, the BVITBFC will sponsor the Lincoln Park Young Professionals (LPYP) Caribbean Cocktail Party on the Patio at Adobo Grill & Margarita Bar in Old Town, Chicago, on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Arundel Cane Rum & Pusser's Rum to be promoted

According to the BVITB&FC, the event will highlight two of the VI’s iconic spirits, Arundel Cane Rum from Callwood’s Distillery, one of the oldest continuously operating pot distilleries in the Caribbean, and the world-renowned Pusser’s Rum.

Guests will also have the chance to win an exclusive holiday prize package to the VI.

Founded nearly 30 years ago, Lincoln Park Young Professionals is one of Chicago’s most active social networks with more than 30,000 members.

LPYP hosts a diverse calendar of events throughout the year, ranging from wine and spirits tastings, restaurant launches, and cooking demos to fashion shows, boat cruises, and networking events.

'A key target audience'

The BVITBFC said it has already showcased the VI at several LPYP events this year in Chicago neighbourhoods including Lincoln Park, Lakeview, and Lincoln Square.

“The Board has identified the LPYP membership as a key target audience and formed a strategic partnership with the group to increase awareness of the BVI as a premier travel destination,” said Hazel Penn, BVITB’s Business Development Manager for Canada and the Midwestern United States.

“By sponsoring the Caribbean Cocktail Party and offering an exciting prize giveaway, we are bringing the BVI closer to Chicagoans and shining a spotlight on the Anegada Lobster Festival.”

This year, the BVITBFC is collaborating with BVI Revealed Specialist Travel Advisor T’Sheeka Ruffin of Pleasant Point Travel to organise an LPYP group trip to the Anegada Lobster Festival.

To encourage participation, the BVITBFC has partnered with Wyndham Lambert Beach Resort to offer a spectacular prize: three nights of complimentary accommodations at the resort, along with a $1,000 airfare credit provided by the BVITBFC.

They are bringing people to the islands so we can have money to fix the roads. What are you doing to help get the roads fixed and enhance the way if life in the BVI. Your attack is not doing anything positive to create good things or good energy for the country.

Why don't you all take a different approach? How are you helping the situation in the country? What are contributing? Ask what is going on? All of this negative is weighing the country down. It takes everyone effort to fix/heal a country.

Regarding the event, so you want the workers to sit and do nothing. What you propose for this person and other individuals to do to attract and interest individual to the destination. If the visitors are not coming, how will we generate revenue to fix the roads?

All of you keep repeating what one person say and when you look there is a choir. There are all kind of industries, such as, entertainment, tourism, manufacturing, financial, sport, etc. In all industry you have to put money into them to get a return. With that return you can put it into your country and refuel that industry and people who are in those industries will benefit as well and they can recycle their money as well.

Please start making a more positive contribution that is more empowering and transferring for the country.

When you look out of your window in the bvi the view may seem calm and beautiful. However, that beauty is in danger — from climate change!!
