MIAMI, Florida, USA - The Virgin Islands delegation led by Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) at the 2021 Seatrade Cruise Global conference held in Miami Florida has secured more cruise calls to the territory as the administration seeks to further boost cruise tourism numbers halted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Premier Fahie indicated that Seatrade Cruise Global provides an opportunity for the delegation to meet with ports, cruise lines, and members of the international cruise community to source partners, network with peers both new and known, and to hear insights from leading industry players.

This he said comes as the VI Government is working toward ensuring a safe resumption of the local cruise industry.

The Premier in a social media update noted that his team also met with representatives from the neighboring U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI) to discuss the safe restart of passenger cruise in the region.

It sounds good to hear that the government is trying to bring more tourists in our country. We do need more tourists to help our staggering economy. However, the ruling Cabinet members should not even think that they are doing us a favour. They asked for a job, We gave them a job, and we are expecting no less than honest service from them. But have we being getting honest and good service? No, no, no, we haven't. This and other reasons are why the CoI probing of mismanagement of our finances by political leaders and others are ongoing in the British Virgin Islands.
    Isaiah 10:1-3.

Unfortunately its not just up to our government whether cruise ships come. Its up to all places a ship might visit to make a cruise. Most of those cruise companies could buy our whole territory, so they call the shots. All we could do is ban visits, for whatever reason, but they will decide who comes. Lets hope they do decide to come back for the sake of our economy. Check vacationstogo.com and type in places to visit, Roadtown or Tortola, to see who is scheduled to come.
