ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As the British Virgin Islands (BVI) prepares to welcome cruise visitors for the 2026/2027 Cruise Season, the BVI Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) is inviting hospitality professionals, taxi drivers and other tourism industry stakeholders to participate in a free Service Excellence Training session designed to strengthen service delivery and enhance the visitor experience.

Dubbed “Service Excellence Training: Cruise 101,” the session will take place on Monday, 9th November 2026, at 4:30 p.m. in the Conference Room at Maria’s by the Sea Hotel.

The training will be facilitated by Mrs. Natasha Chalwell, Deputy Director of the BVITBFC, who brings extensive experience in cruise tourism, product management and destination marketing. Participants will gain a better understanding of the cruise sector, the expectations of cruise visitors and the important role they play in shaping visitors’ impressions of the destination.

The session underscores the importance of consistent, high-quality service in ensuring that every visitor interaction contributes to a welcoming and memorable BVI experience. From transportation and hospitality to excursions and other tourism-related services, industry stakeholders are essential ambassadors for the destination.

As an added incentive, taxi drivers who pre-register and participate in the training will receive a complimentary taxi certificate.

Participation is free, but registration is required. Interested persons are encouraged to register by emailing training@bvitourism.com.

Through initiatives such as Cruise 101, the BVITBFC continues to support the development of tourism service standards and encourages greater industry readiness as the Territory enters another cruise season. By investing in service excellence, the BVI aims to ensure that visitors receive a consistently positive welcome and leave with lasting impressions of the destination.
