VI Premier wishes SKN PM Terrence M. Drew a ‘speedy & full recovery’
PM Drew presented himself to the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital on Sunday, August 30, 2026, following symptoms of mild discomfort, nausea and headache. He was immediately admitted for observation and thorough clinical evaluation.
A decision was then made, “out of an abundance of caution”, to have PM Drew transported abroad for specialised observation and precautionary monitoring. Dr Drew was flown overseas on Monday, August 31, 2026, and is said to be in “stable condition, fully alert and in good spirits”.
‘A speedy & full recovery’
According to a statement from the Office of the Premier, it was while overseas on the inaugural Virgin Islands Trade Mission to India that Premier Wheatley was informed of the hospitalisation of Dr Drew.
It said Premier Wheatley expressed his concern and wished Prime Minister Drew a speedy and full recovery.
“His thoughts are also with Prime Minister Drew’s wife and family, and with the Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis during this time,” the Office of the Premier stated.
Dr Drew is the immediate former Chairman of CARICOM.
