VI Premier welcomes Logos Hope on inaugural visit to VI
The captain and crew were welcomed by Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) and Governor Daniel Pruce at an official welcoming ceremony this morning, October 24, 2025.
"Your arrival marks a truly historic occasion, the maiden visit of the world’s largest floating book fair to the Virgin Islands. We are delighted that you have chosen to dock here, bringing with you not only thousands of books that celebrate the richness of human thought and creativity but also a powerful message of unity, service, and faith," Hon Wheatley said.
The 'gate to discovery'
The visit, according to Hon Wheatley, is more than a stop on a voyage, but it is a moment that invites all in the Virgin Islands, young and old alike, to rediscover the joy of reading and the power of knowledge.
"In a world filled with noise and distraction, the Logos Hope reminds us that books still hold the key to imagination, understanding, and transformation.
"For our children and students, this ship is a gateway to discovery. Each book aboard opens a new world of adventure, science, history, and faith. I encourage our young people to explore every aisle, meet the volunteers, and allow curiosity to be their compass. The most remarkable journeys often begin not at sea, but in the pages of a book."
Among others at the ceremony were Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr, Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL) and Junior Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon Luce D. Hodge-Smith (R4), along with several senior public officers and members of the BVI Tourist Board
According to the Government of the Virgin Islands, the visit presents a unique opportunity for the public, including students,to interact with the international crew and up to 400 multi-cultural volunteers as they promote literacy and education, cross-cultural cooperation, and social awareness.
The book fair will be open to the public from 3:30 PM this afternoon until 10:00 PM.
MV Logos Hope departs on October 29, 2025.
