ORLANDO, Florida, USA – Two poets from the Virgin Islands (VI) have paced second and third in a global poetry competition organised by KVI Networks Creations, a Florida-based platform dedicated to creativity, art, culture, diversity, and literature.

Coming in second place was Prison Officer, Nikiesha Richards from the Virgin Islands with the Poem ‘Untitled’ and third Third Place April T. Glasgow from the Virgin Islands with the poem “Illuminate”.

The overall first-place winner of the competition was Juanita Rodgers of the United States with the poem “Wanderlust”.

According to KVI Networks, the competition held from September 1 to 30, 2023, urged poets to craft their art around word prompts such as "enigma," "egregious," "euphoria," "nostalgia," "illuminate," or "wanderlust."

The poems were then judged by a panel that rigorously evaluated submissions, considering clarity, creativity, structure, grammar, and more.

“Not only will the winners receive cash prizes, but they will also seize the thrilling opportunity to showcase their poetic brilliance through video performances commencing on October 22, 2023, on KVI Network LLC’s social media platforms,” the organization detailed.

More information on the poets and winning entries can be found on the KVI Networks website here.
