VI lose to Bonaire in opening game @CFU U14 Football Tournament

PUNTA CANA, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic- The Virgin Islands lost their opening game of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Boys Challenge Series in the Dominican Republic.

After a goalless first half, Bonaire opened the scoring in the 45th minute at the Cap Cana Sports City in Punta Cana; however, George Hollingworth levelled matters in the 59th minute through a low shot to the Bonaire keeper's right from just inside the 18-yard box.

Bonaire continued their attack on the Virgin Islands and were rewarded in the 60th and 70th minutes for a 3-1 victory in Tier II Group A.

In the other Group A game, St Vincent and the Grenadines and St Martin played to a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Amalle Lavia put the Vincentians ahead in the 10th minute, but St Martin responded through Gabriel Halley four minutes later. Laurenido Dormoy then put St Martin ahead in the 50th before Dwayne Johnson equalised for the Young Vincy Heat in the 68th.

Dormoy appeared to have secured victory for St Martin with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time. However, Roshard Morgan struck just a minute later to earn St Vincent and the Grenadines a share of the points.

St Vincent & The Grenadines and the Virgin Islands clash from 9:30 PM tonight.
