ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The [British] Virgin Islands has been listed by Condé Nast Traveler as one of the best Caribbean islands to visit in 2024. The renowned travel magazine has also named Virgin Gorda in its list of 21 Most Beautiful Islands in the Caribbean.

Condé Nast Traveler stated on January 8, 2024, said the best island hopping in the Caribbean is in the [British] Virgin Islands.

Best island for island hopping!

According to the luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, the [British] Virgin Islands (VI) has few chain restaurants and no large hotels or mass tourism attractions.

“Instead, you’ll encounter turquoise waters, lush green hillsides, and distinctive cuisine and culture across the four main islands: Anegada, Jost van Dyke, Tortola, and Virgin Gorda.

“Hopping from island to island—whether via public ferry or private catamaran—is the characteristic way to explore the BVI. On my last visit I sailed to Jost van Dyke’s White Bay, home to casual beachfront eateries serving dangerously delicious rum cocktails and locally caught fish. Another fantastic spot is Willy T’s Floating Bar and Restaurant near Norman Island. Moored offshore, the cargo ship has been converted into an ultra-relaxed eatery,” Writer Brian Major stated.

Other popular islands of the Virgin Islands for ‘hopping’ include Peter Island, Cooper Island and Saba Rock.

The other countries making the list were Barbados, Anguilla, St Kitts & Nevis, Puerto Rico, Grenada, Dominica and St Lucia.

Where to stay?

Condé Nast Traveler, which has won 25 National Magazine Awards, also advised prospective travellers to the VI on places to stay.

“Located on a broad, secluded calm-water bay on Virgin Gorda, Rosewood Little Dix Bay has 80 villas and suites each staffed with a personal butler. The Reef House is one of three restaurants and features farm-to-fork dining with fresh provisions sourced locally.”

VG among 21 Most Beautiful Islands in Caribbean

Meanwhile, the magazine also named Virgin Gorda in its list of 21 Most Beautiful Islands in the Caribbean.

“Virgin Gorda is the third-largest of the British Virgin Islands, with natural beauty covering virtually all of its 8.5 square miles. The island offers quiet beaches, coves, and flora-filled national parks.

“Perhaps the prettiest and most popular attraction is the Baths, pictured, a seaside area where huge granite boulders form scenic saltwater pools and grottos,” Condé Nast Traveler stated.

BVI basing its tourism on plastic beach chairs and alcohol. Driving away the overnight folks who $pend real money in favor of mass tourism, spring break type drinking binges. Real shame. Only govt and a select few benefit.

Please differentiate between the BVI and the USVI when given such glowing accolades.. There are people outside of this part of the world who does not know the difference.
