VI Islander Devon Freeman shot dead in USVI
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St Thomas, USVI — A man said to be from the Virgin Islands (VI) has met his death via gun violence in St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
According to a report in the VI Consortium today, June 20, 2016, Devon Freeman was shot to death in the area of the Tutu High Rise housing community at around 5:44 AM, according to Glen Dratte, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) public information officer.
The VIPD was alerted by the 911 emergency call center of shots fired near the housing community. Upon arrival to the scene, police made contact with the unresponsive male, later identified by next of kin as 42-year-old Devon Freeman. Mr Freeman was shot to death,” according to Mr Dratte.
No other information was divulged.
The case is presently under investigation by the Homicide Task Force, according to Dratte.
