VI is full of good memories – Wendy Williams
Speaking briefly to journalists last evening October 14, 2011 at Scrub Island Resort after taping a show, Ms. Williams gushed about the beautiful weather, the people, fresh food and the iridescent waters.
“How soon can I make plans to come back,” she said, is at the back of her mind. “It [VI] is nothing but good memories. It’s affordable and beautiful...it’s clean.”
As for how she intends to portray the VI on her show, Ms. Williams said "the best way I can" and hinted “You will have to tune in.”
However, Virgin Islands News Online understands she will highlight some of the VI’s rich heritage and culture, including swimming with the dolphins.
Her presence in the VI is a carefully crafted move by the BVI Tourist Board to tap into the US market to lure more tourists to the VI shores.
In a recent press conference, chairman of the board, Neil Blyden had stated that the VI will be featured in a four minute promo.
“Her show is seen between 50 to 100 million viewers and we will get airtime that we are not paying for...a 30 seconds advertisement cost around $50,000,” the TB’s chairman had told journalists.
Furthermore, Ms. Williams for the November sweeps will host a “Watch and Win BVI” promotion where the winners will enjoy what all the VI has to offer.
“This promotion with the BVI will add about 25 percent more potential visitors who are interested in coming here...this is going to be put Brand BVI in place where you could not imagine,” Mr. Blyden added.
