VI Gov't to take legal action against persons with illegal water connection

The government has declared water a national priority, recognising its vital role in sustaining communities, supporting the economy, and ensuring a secure future for generations to come.
The Ministry of Communications and Works stated in a press release dated September 4, 2025, that it is aware that many residents have unauthorised connections and would request that these persons visit the Water and Sewerage Department to regularise their accounts.
Grace period
The Ministry further warned that such practices are unlawful, unsustainable, and place an unfair burden on law-abiding citizens; hence, persons involved in this illegal act should use this opportunity to come forward and correct their accounts without penalty.
The government stated that it will take legal action and enforce compliance without further notice if persons don’t come in within the grace period of 30 days.
The Government issued a plea to all citizens to act responsibly, protect this precious resource, and ensure that water is managed sustainably for the benefit of all.
