ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– The Government of the Virgin Islands will now make an annual $40,000.00 contribution to the Family Support Network (FSN), according to statements of the Cabinet meeting of November 30, 2022.

In the meeting chaired by Governor John J. Rankin, CMG, at the Premier's Conference Room, Cutlass Tower, where all members were present, the Cabinet of the Virgin Islands (VI) accepted the Family Support Network's Annual Report 2020 and Audited Financial Statements.

The monies from the donation will reportedly come from the Ministry of Health and Social Development and the statement noted that the Report and the Audited Financial Statements will be tabled at the next convenient Sitting of the House of Assembly.

The Family Support Network (FSN) is a non-profit, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) whose primary aim is to aid individuals, couples, and families affected by domestic violence.

FSN range of services

As part of its missions and goals, FSN provides direct services on a free and confidential basis of primary and secondary victims of domestic violence as well as operate a crisis intervention, referral, and information agency for those affected by domestic violence.

FSN also initiates public outreach efforts to raise community and government awareness and provide public education about domestic violence in the VI, and the compounding factors leading to more frequent and greater acts of violence within the home, and the correlating evidence suggesting that violence in the home precedes violence in the streets.

FNS is also involved in collaborative efforts as an inter-agency partner to strengthen the support network and service provider response for victims of domestic violence in the Virgin Islands.

If were to be Compared to the amount in $$$ mismanaged annually by governtment leaders, $40,000.00 is clearly an insurficient figure.
This figure is less $3,500.00 a Month.
    Annual means yearly.

    $3,333×12=$39,996+$4.00=$40,000.00

If the topic amount governmenr contributuon offer to FSN is correct, my honest opinion is this figure is far to small, and is not a fair constibution annual offer.
    Agree?
