VI girls open U17 CONCACAF football qualifier against Costa Rica today
The VI has been drawn into Group E, which also includes Cuba, Grenada, and Anguilla.
The game against Costa Rica is scheduled for 9:00 PM at Miguel ‘Chocorrón’ Buitrago Stadium in Managua.
“Preparation has been challenging at times, but the players are of the understanding that it is hard work,” Women’s Development Director Fitzgerald Carter said ahead of the team’s departure for Nicaragua on January 23, 2025.
‘We’re going to fight’- Coach Carter
Pointing to the level of opposition in Group E, Carter said: “We, at this point, are the lowest-ranked team in the group, but that does not depict how we want to end the tournament. So, we’re going to fight — to play hard for the country and to work hard for each other.”
The 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers serve as the opening stage on the confederation’s road to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with Round One designed to produce teams that advance toward the Final Round and eventual qualification.
