GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands- After playing to a 1-1 draw with Cayman Islands in their Group D opener in the CONCACAF Nations League in the Virgin Islands on June 3, 2022, it was a similar result in the return leg at Truman Bodden Stadium in George Town, Cayman Islands today, June 6, 2022.

This time; however, it was the Virgin Islands who had to fight back to level matters, after falling behind in the 25th minute when Jonah Ebanks struck from the penalty spot.

The hosts were awarded the penalty when Christian F. Javier Samuel grabbed Trey Ebanks during a challenge inside the 18-yard box.

VI leveled matters in 1st minute of 2nd half

The Virgin Islands, who always threatened to score, equalised in the 46th minute through Jamie Wilson.

Luka Chalwell received the ball in midfield and advanced it on the left side before slipping it to Tyler Forbes on the top of the 18-yard box. Forbes got past his marker and lifted the ball across the face of goal where Chalwell headed it back to the left post where Wilson was waiting. Wilson headed the ball low towards goal but it was blocked by the keeper; however, the ball came back to Wilson who made no mistake in slotting it past the keeper on the second attempt.

The Virgin Islands looked certain to score a winner but a first victory since 2016 was denied.

The VI boys now play hosts Puerto Rico on June 12, 2022.
