VI face Grenada in CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers today

MANAGUA, Nicaragua- The Virgin Islands (VI) are set to play their third game in Group E of the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers in Nicaragua at 9:00 PM today, January 29, 2026.

The Nature Girls will face the Spice Girls (Grenada) at Miguel ‘Chocorrón’ Buitrago Stadium in Managua.

The Virgin Islands are still to trouble the score sheets and the points table, as they were routed 8-0 by Cuba on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

VI trailed 0-2 at halftime

The Cuban contingent opened the scoring just two minutes into the match as Dedina Sheila knocked in a cross.

Emely Diaz doubled the lead in the 29’ off a towering strike right over the keeper.  

Up by two at the break, Cuba’s offense really got going in the second half as Dayana Ayala netted a header in the 50’. 

Yaiselis López then took over by notching a hat trick with goals in the 59’, 80’ and 84’. She now has seven goals in two matches so far this tournament.

An own goal in the 90’ was followed by a strike from Yoesmayda Isaac in the 90+1’.

The 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers serve as the opening stage on the confederation’s road to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with Round One designed to produce teams that advance toward the Final Round and eventual qualification.
