VI experiences island-wide power outage

Power went out at around 9:00am, including in Virgin Gorda and Jost van Dyke, but was restored sometime after 11:00am.
This was confirmed by General Manager of the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) Mr Leroy A. E. Abraham, who told our newsroom the power outage was due to a problem experienced at the Henry Wilfred 'Freddie' Smith Power Station.
Mr Abraham also confirmed the issue at the power plant has been rectified.
