ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The Virgin Islands will be receiving a new shipment of 3,040 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, according to information relayed by Governor John J. Rankin, CMG.

The update came during a July 8, 2021, statement from Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL) on the COVID-19 outbreak currently facing the territory.

“It is a proven fact that vaccination works. As you may be well aware, the current doses of vaccines that we have will expire on July 31, but we have continued to administer first doses. The rate of administration is not high enough,“ Hon Malone said.

Health authorities are now hoping to heighten the pace of first dose vaccinations since another shipment of 3,040 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine has a scheduled arrival date of July 19, 2021.

Follow-up vaccine shipment secured

The Health Minister indicated that the July batch will expire sometime in August 2021 and that more vaccine shipments have been promised by the UK.

“But it will not make any sense for us to continue to get these doses if we do not use them effectively. We have to know that it’s a matter of lives and it is a matter of livelihoods. It is not a conversation anymore, this is real,” he said.

Hon Malone also indicated that the UK has also already committed to providing 15,000 home kits for monitoring COVID-19.

“Public Health England, with the UK’s commitment, has afforded us forthcoming assistance. We will find ways in which those persons who are requiring Pfizer and Moderna vaccines could possibly have access to them if this is your only hold up from vaccination,” he said.

These new vaccines will also expire at the end of August. Don't all you see this is a joke. UK will never use close dated products, they just shipping what they no longer need and keep the fresh batch to themselves.
      waste

Thank you Minister Malone. Thank you Governor Rankin.
I pray that people who have not yet been vaccinated will step up and take the opportunity to protect themselves, their families, and the entire well being of the community, by getting themselves vaccinated (both doses)!

Though some persons are reluctant to take it because of fears/health concerns the risk of blood clots is very small and I pray that IGNORANCE doesn’t prevail .. God is in the Midst of EVERYTHING and He’s “Trying Again” to Help us, but will we be wise or foolish .. and also our Government is “again” trying to help us, people .. they didn’t have to order any more but they did..WE ARE NOW SEEING THAT VACCINATIONS WORKS!!! ..

You giving us a one and only choice Vaccine, it will be nice to hzve an option...From all the news Ive heard it seems that Moderma Vaccine is the most effective against all variants including this one....How difficult it is to source the Moderma? Give us an option..

If them bring the Moderma, you still won't take it.

We would have to pay to get Moderna. We are getting AstraZeneca for free as a British Overseas Territory. It’s common sense.

You would have heard that there is not much good in what people are giving away for Free....The Same people giving us Astrazeneca are not using it, they are using PFizer and Moderna.. The Record is clear, Moderna is the most effective..

All the vaccines in the West work. All have very very rare serious side effects, all medicines do. But you are more likely to be struck by lightening than have serious side effects from any of the vaccines. And you are 100 times more likely to get blood clots from being on a plane than from the AZ vaccine.

What factors can depress our immune system?

Older age: As we age, our internal organs may become less efficient; immune-related organs like the thymus or bone marrow produce less immune cells needed to fight off infections. Aging is sometimes associated with micronutrient deficiencies, which may worsen a declining immune function.
Environmental toxins (smoke and other particles contributing to air pollution, excessive alcohol): These substances can impair or suppress the normal activity of immune cells.
Excess weight: Obesity is associated with low-grade chronic inflammation. Fat tissue produces adipocytokines that can promote inflammatory processes. [1] Research is early, but obesity has also been identified as an independent risk factor for the influenza virus, possibly due to the impaired function of T-cells, a type of white blood cell. [2]
Poor diet: Malnutrition or a diet lacking in one or more nutrients can impair the production and activity of immune cells and antibodies.
Chronic diseases: Autoimmune and immunodeficiency disorders attack and potentially disable immune cells.
Chronic mental stress: Stress releases hormones like cortisol that suppresses inflammation (inflammation is initially needed to activate immune cells) and the action of white blood cells.
Lack of sleep and rest: Sleep is a time of restoration for the body, during which a type of cytokine is released that fights infection; too little sleep lowers the amount of these cytokines and other immune cells.

13,803 is the number of 1st dose jabbers while 2nd dose is 9,670. They bringing in reinforcements in hopes of coercing people to get the vaccine. That is the only way to put this: COERCION. Stand up for your rights people. I for one will not be swayed. 3040 is 1520 persons or maybe more if they get some first dose takers between now and July end. The pressure is on.

Vaccines is nor the only way.

Vaccinated (fully) and they still worried still scared to the point they want others to take it.

This thing is still experimental ask WHO about side effects long term that is the answer is they don’t know.
I am not against anyone who took something that time will tell later.
But don’t be up in Here demanding and starting this division of vaxx and unvaccinated take your jab follow protocols and mind your business .

Stop getting your news from oft repeated trash on Facebook or YouTube, ivermectin was studied in Israel, US and China and every study showed it was no different than a placebo. If you don't know what that means, you have zero right to give medical advice.
