VI engages Disney, Carnival cruise lines on Day 1 of Seatrade Cruise Global

MIAMI, Florida, USA– Minister for Communications and Works, Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5) is currently leading a delegation at the 2024 Seatrade Cruise Global event, a premier event in the global cruise tourism industry.

Seatrade Cruise Global stands as the world's largest and most renowned cruise event, drawing in over 10,000 cruise professionals, 600 exhibitors, and more than 80 cruise line brands, all representing 120 countries.

On the first day of the 2024 event, Hon Rymer met with representatives from Disney and Carnival cruise lines, Government Information Service (GIS) shared.

Featured as part of his delegation is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, along with BVI Ports Authority Board Members and officials of the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park.

Strengthening existing relationships

According to information from the Government Information Service (GIS), VI’s mission for this year’s event will focus on strengthening existing relationships with cruise partners and forging new collaborations within the worldwide cruise market.

"Our participation in this event demonstrates the VI's unwavering commitment to building and maintaining long-term partnerships within the cruise industry, driving mutual growth and success,” Hon Rymer said ahead of the trip. 

The Minister further highlighted VI's success with a record-breaking increase of over 90,000 passengers in the first quarter of 2024, when compared to the same period last year.

The VI delegation also has an agenda which includes interacting with a variety of activities throughout Seatrade Cruise Global, including networking with industry leaders, attending educational workshops and sessions, and exhibiting the Virgin Islands as a premier cruise destination.

    Free trip for how many people and for what? We only needed the Minister....heads of Pier Park..two from Ports and two from Tourist Board. How many govt workers are on this trip?
