VI eliminated from CONCACAF U-20 Qualifiers

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica- Virgin Islands (VI) U-20 football team suffered their second straight defeat in the 2026 CONCACAF Qualifiers in Alajuela, Costa Rica, on Friday, February 27, 2026.

The VI boys went down 3-nil to the Dominican Republic during their third match of the competition. 

Just 33 seconds into the game, the Dominican Republic scored their first goal and were unrelentless throughout the entire match. 

The VI U-20 team was drawn in Group C with Dominica, Antigua, the Dominican Republic and Saint Lucia. 

VI Eliminated from next round

The team needed to win their final two games and jump to the top of their group standings to qualify for the next round. The top team from each group will advance to the next round of the competition. 

The VI boys have 1 point following their three out of four matches, with 1 draw and 2 losses. 

The team will close out its campaign on March 3, 2026, when they face Saint Lucia U-20.
