ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- With no reported active COVID-19 cases and being less than a month away from the reopening of its borders to international visitors, the Virgin Islands has reduced its curfew hours to 3, beginning today, November 5, 2020.

The previous curfew ran for 5 hours, from 12:01am to 4:59am.

New curfew

According to the Imposition of a Curfew (No. 37) Order, 2020, signed by Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert and published in the Official Gazette on November 4, 2020, the curfew will now be observed from 2:01am to 4:59am for the next 14 days.

The Order, which comes into force on November 5, 2020 at 5:00am, is for: “(1) For the purposes of controlling, suppressing or preventing the spread of COVID-19 and for the protection of all persons within the Territory, a curfew is hereby imposed from the date this Order comes into force.

"(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), no person shall be on the streets, and every person shall remain confined to their place of residence (inclusive of their yard space), from the date this Order comes into force to Thursday, 19th November, 2020 between the hours of 2:01 a.m. to 4:59 a.m. daily, subject to (a) such conditions as stipulated in this Order; and (b) the requirements as provided under the Public Health (Covid-19 Control and Suppression Measures) (No. 9) Order, 2020 and any amendment to that Order whether by revocation or otherwise,” according to the published Order.

No reported active COVID-19 cases in VI

The Virgin Islands, which has had 72 COVID-19 cases, 71 recoveries and 1 death, was able to overcome a spike in cases in late August due to effective management by the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Meanwhile, the Territory reopens its borders to tourism on December 1, 2020.

What’s the point of a 3 hour curfew?

They’re out there forming the fool regardless of the time.

How many stabbing and brawls have there been in the last few weeks and not adhering to safety protocols.

To add, people out there making social media videos with others not from the same household (especially those who should know better ...wear your masks please)

    Bright idea ....NOT.

I think it should stay there until the pandemic is over... What we need now is the border Plan for the soft opening according to immigration minister....

Yea this confirms it, this is all about control because ntn else makes sense. Maybe that’s why their pushing that police act also. These guys are doing more damage than Covid, talking about damages Irma took more lives than this “deadly contagious” disease no wonder you got to beg ppl to wear a mask because the human mind knows when something just doesn’t add up

    This don't make no sense. 2 am - 5 am - what's the point.

10 pm - shut up shop. go home. 4 am - let people get up and exercise in peace. Schups.

In referece to the issue of Covid-19 and the negative effect it is having on us so far, we are in a far better position the most countries of the world. Praise the Lord. We do not know how we eill fair after December 1st and after. But on the three (3) hours curfew that is expect to come into effect for the next fourteen (14) days from, Nov. 19, 2020 from 2:01 to 4:59 for the next 14 days, I think it will make little, if any, difference. What I know for sure that will make a huge and positive difference is that we honestly seek God's, our and heavenly Father Creator, guidance in fixing our many problems in the B.V.I. Amen

A three (3) hours by fourteen (14) days Nov. 19th 2:01 am to 4:59 sm is not our protector from the desdly effects of Covid-19. Only Jahowah God, the Creator, the Almighty is our protect from all evils that rivsls against God and us. What time is it on the B.V.I's tick tock, tick tock clock? It is time to seek the Most High God, our Creator, our sure provider, sustainer, and protector of life. Please bear with me a little longer. Thank you kindly: Example: If the cap of a full bottle of water is unscrewed, and all the water within is thrown out, is the bottle then empty? No, it is not, because as soon as the water goes our, air goes and fills the bottle. We need to act wisely. Like we cannot see air, we cannot see well enough to predict future events without God's guidiance. We need at all times posible to think, speak, and do wise actions, daily.

Curfew for two weeks beginning Nov. 19, 2020 from 2:01 am to 4:59 am? Now that the potential violaters know two weeks ahead of time when the new curfew will come into effect, they will do their violations at different time period, and use the three curfew hours to stay where they live. Our government leaders mean well, but they lack wise consultation fron wise conselors. However, I hope that things will work out for good, rather than bad.
