VI close out Men’s U-17 Football Qualifiers with 2-2 draw against TCI

ALAJUELA, Costa Rica- The Virgin Islands (VI) ended their campaign in Group D at the 2026 CONCACAF Men’s U-17 Football Qualifiers in Costa Rica with a 2-2 draw against Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Jordan Dane got Turks and Caicos Islands off the mark in the 4th minute at the Costa Rican Football Federation Field # 2 in Alajuela; however, Akhori Sebastian tied the match for the Virgin Islands in the 21st minute when he intercepted a pass from a TCI defender, slotting the ball in from way above the 18-yard box.

TCI reclaimed the lead in the 43rd minute, when Scott Kommalapate received a pass from Jwaun Exalu.

VI secure first point

Theo Coombs then converted a penalty for the VI in the 84th minute for the 2-2 result. Coombs had been taken down in the 18-yard box while trying to weave through a cluster of TCI defenders.

Both Caribbean nations secured their first point on Tuesday; however, the VI ended at the bottom of the group due to the number of goals conceded.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico drew nil-nil on Tuesday. With the result, Costa Rica won Group D and qualified for its 12th FIFA U-17 World Cup.
