ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Virgin Islands Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has called on citizens to take on a responsibility to inspire youths of the territory, given local people are being bombarded on the blogs, social media, on some of the talks shows and other forums with what he called ‘narratives'.

The Premier made the statements at the opening ceremony of the Elmore Stoutt High School Redevelopment Project on January 2, 2023, where he asserted that if the VI wants to equip its youth to be the best they can be and to achieve their highest potential, then there are things that must be done as responsible adults and responsible Virgin Islanders.

Barrage of narratives

The Premier said these narratives include that the VI people must temper their aspirations because they are from a small country and that they must know their place because it is an overseas territory.

He said the local youths must be protected from such narratives.

“We have the experience and the knowledge and we must start speaking our truth. We must start telling the real story of the Virgin Islands and what our people have achieved.”

He said the VI must remind its young people that they come from people who have endured and persevered much as well as achieved great things.

“We must instill in them the courage and self-belief to not be daunted by obstacles – real or imagined and to boldly go after their dreams. And this is where I believe some of our senior statesmen and stateswomen need to step forward to be seen as role models and heard as leaders in our society,” he said.

Provide youths with tools

Meanwhile, the Premier said the VI must also provide young people with the tools and resources to have a quality education and to succeed in their academic preparation.

He said as adults, people have a responsibility to tear down as many of the barriers that stand in the way of the success of youths, whether that means reforming how Government business is done.

This he said could include eliminating weaknesses and threats to the local economy, or changing constitutional arrangements that are holding back progress.

The blogs are the same guavana both past and present and his kind trying to make everything and everyone in the BVI seem bad so they can have us fighting each other and begging for them to take over.

At least vino and the other online site "platty" post all blogs whether good or bad. The other is totally control by the slave masters and a few of his imps locally that intend to portray us to the world as idiots and no good people at all times. They should be sued for some of their blogs they allow.

The time has come to put laws in allowing all to blog but they must do so under their real name. This will hold people more accountable.

More of these online site must allow for balance in their stories and in the blogs they allow. Most persons have said that one site for sure blocks the majority of positive blogs about the BVI or any government in position. Their aim is defined in one word... WICKED!

It is time for legislation to be put in place that will bring a new era of responsibility, accountability, and ethics in all media houses. It is not to dictate to them but to ensure that people's businesses, names and reputation are not destroyed through careless blogs and unsubstantiated stories. The time to do this is now. Through this the media houses will be more responsible, factual, and careful to avoid being sued. I say this as a neutral person living in this society.

The government needs a more effective media to tell the true positive stories of the BVI . GIS is a waste of time as their overall head is working with the slave masters to sell out their people. They intentionally let the government get slaughtered in the media all the time for years.

No one should be able to blog under fictitious names. It is the main culprit behind a lot of the unnecessary damage to the name of the BVI and the people who live in the BVI and working hard. It must stop. Have freedom of speech but mandate their real name be affixed to the post. Take direct responsibility for your words actions.

Do you know that most people do not read the story content but only the headlines and then the blogs. The blogs are used to control our thoughts and feelings. Companies are hired by the modern day slave masters to blog against us in the BVI and bring out negative information against us and do so daily on all sites. This must be stop now. It is part of their plan in their plot to take over and have the majority of our permission to do so because they put us against each other through the negative and non-factual information they intentionally put in the blogs.

Education is a crucial tool in building a self-sufficient, and competitive national empowering plan. Consequently, it must be directly linked to socioeconomic political, competitive development. It must be functional and relevant in building wealth, creating producers, not just consumers, focusing less on individualism and more on group economics to build a functional Virgin Islands community. To get to this state, requires a rethinking, revamping, restructuring and transforming education, entailing leveraging technology. A national empowerment plan requires more than transforming education and building physical, aesthetically pleasing facilities; it requires creating sustainable and resilient available and accessible productive employment opportunities.

Stop blaming others, the people that is blogging most of the negative is your own people that is trying to destroy the Territory.

In case you do not know it is alleged by persons who worked in certain media houses that officials from abroad in the slave masters' headquarters and local office actually write stories and call their contacts in some of these online news sites and certain other medias and talk shows and have them print or read or go directly from the script provided. They also organize questions to ask of certain people they put them to interview. Then their assigned blogging team starts to blog the negative they want to get out. So, all of you can stay there sleeping but the plot is real and yes, they cannot do it without the buy in from some of our people that want to be with the JONES.

In these Virgin Islands some locals and some foreigners are very good LAWYERS for their own experiences and mistakes, BUT are very good JUDGES for the experience and mistakes of others . There are ungrateful people on either side of the divide. Some throw stones and hide their hands while using pseudonyms to vent and hate, but please, always seek out the positive level vibes in all people. We have the same capacity to learn and love. Be brave. The strongest weapon in the world is truth, it is indestructible and has no deadline.

What this WHOLEEEEEEE thing is about. I will keep it under wraps due to the fact that it seems that something is wrong with people on this island. It has nothing to do with barrage of narratives. I’ll say this much, when it affects others, not a problem, when you feel it is affecting you, you don’t like it RIGHT?

We need a new clean slate. It is about what is best for the Territory. No hard feelings but the Unity Government have to go. I can no longer deal with any of them.
