VI bid farewell: Karia J. Christopher's funeral today

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Virgin Islands (VI) will bid farewell to the late Mrs Karia J. Christopher, Director of Communications, today, Saturday, January 10, 2026.

The funeral service will take place at the Sea Cows Bay Methodist Church with viewing from 9:30 AM and the service from 11:00 AM. 

Mrs Christopher, who was born on April 27, 1977, suddenly passed away on December 5, 2025. 

Mrs Christopher was a well-loved and respected member of the Virgin Islands community, both here and abroad. 

She is survived by her husband, Rory; two daughters, Dakota and Hunter; and her mother, among other family members.

A life of service

She held a Bachelor's and Master's of Science Degrees, and had a progressive career in the public service, including holding the post of Sister Islands Coordinator and the Director of Human Resources and Administration at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC). She was also the host of her own show, 'Real Talk', where she interviewed personalities from all walks of life.

She had acted in the post of Director of Communications since 2023 and was confirmed in August 2025. 

Many within the community have paid tribute to the late Christopher, highlighting the vast impact she had in the VI. The Government of the Virgin Islands will pay tribute to the late Christopher with a primetime special to be aired at a later date. 

The funeral service will be carried live by CBN.
