VI beat St Lucia to end 3rd in Group C of 2026 CONCACAF U20 Qualifiers
The Virgin Islands defeated Saint Lucia, 2-1, with both of the Virgin Islands’ goals coming from Jaadon Quashie after a scoreless first half for both teams. The result means the VI finish 3rd in Group C, behind the Dominican Republic and group winners Antigua and Barbuda.
The Virgin Islands fell behind in the 47th minute when Kallis Mondesir kicked off the scoring for Saint Lucia with a looping ball to the goal. Goalkeeper Toby Whitegate caught the ball, but the linesman signalled that the ball crossed the goal line.
The comeback
Quashie equalised for the Virgin Islands in the 55th minute when he flicked in a ball that was sent in from a corner kick. The striker for VG United would then score the winner in the 84th minute, rising above the Antigua and Barbuda defenders to head in a corner kick.
Meanwhile, Antigua and Barbuda earned a 1-nil win over the Dominican Republic to position itself as the leader of Group C to advance to the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
