VI vs Barbados on Monday

The Virgin Islands will be in Tier II Group B action again from 2:00 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025, against Barbados at Ato Boldon Stadium.

The Virgin Islands girls’ under-14 national team was unfortunate to lose to French Guiana on Friday in its first match of the Caribbean Football Union U-14 Girls Challenge Series, after leading 1-nil at halftime due to a French Guiana own goal.

The second half began with more energy from the BVI. Just one minute after the restart, striker Kiyah-Starr Shelton doubled the lead in the 36th minute, putting the VI up 2–0 and raising hopes of a memorable opening victory.

But French Guiana quickly responded. In the 42nd minute, Dadoe Tiffany struck to cut the deficit to 2–1. Misfortune struck again for the VI six minutes later, when an own goal in the 48th minute brought French Guiana level at 2–2.

As the match seemed destined for a draw, French Guiana kept pushing in stoppage time. In the final seconds of added time, Maylise Ambroise delivered the winner in the 70+5 minute, sealing a 3–2 comeback victory.

VI’s Group B opponents

Group B comprises Grenada, Barbados, Virgin Islands, French Guiana, and Suriname.

Teams in each group will play each other once in a round-robin format, with the three group winners advancing to the Tier II semifinal. The second-place team with the highest number of points between the three groups will join the group winners in the Tier II semifinal.

The group winner with the highest number of points will face off against the best second-place team in the first semifinal, while the second and third-best group winners will compete in the second semifinal.
