ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Tortola-based Rastafarian reggae singer, Maccabee said he has high hopes in his recently released single Turn Your Lights Down Low.

The track is one of the songs from his debut album Peace Joy and Harmony and is produced on his Mac Productions label under Royal Son Productions.

"Turn Your Lights Down Low is the song that I believe will propel my career to higher heights as it is a song that the ladies won't be able to get enough of," he said.

He said the single should not be confused with Bob Marley's track of a similar name. He, however, cites Marley, Third World, Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Garnett Silk and Peter Tosh as his influence.

Other songs on the album include, ‘Serious Thing’ and ‘Whats Going On’ in which he identifies several issues in the cultural upbringing of today's youths.

Maccabee — whose real name is Junior Bradford Prince — travelled to Jamaica in August to shoot two music videos that will assist in the promotional launch of the new album. The new video for ‘Turn the lights Down low’ has made a strong headway in 4 of Jamaics’s tv stations and has dropped to number 7 on the RE TV charts and 8 on the Hype TV charts.

The singer continued by saying that he firmly encourages the integration of Caribbean music as he believes that this will increase the international presence of Caribbean artistes and as such make it easier for them to break into the international mainstream music market.

"I hope that my music can impact my Caribbean brothers and sisters as well as the rest of world and as such when I write, I try my best to create material that anyone can relate to", said Maccabee.

The reggae singer, was born in Antigua but migrated to Virgin Islands as an infant. His love for singing led him to become a member of a church choir. He is also known for other singles like’ Beautiful’, ‘Give Thanks and Praise’, and ‘No Hesitation.’
