VI airports to close ahead of Hurricane Erin

- Will reopen once all clear is given

TRELLIS BAY, Beef Island, VI- Airports in the Virgin Islands (VI) will be closing early in anticipation of the passage of Hurricane Erin.

In a notice from the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA), today, Friday, August 15, 2025, Managing Director of the BVIAA, Mr Kurt A.G. Menal, said the closure of the airports was done on the advice of the Department of Disaster Management and the Antigua Meteorological Office.

Airports will reopen when 'all clear' is given

The Virgin Gorda International Airport and the Auguste George International Airport closed at 2:00 PM. The Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport will close at 5:00 PM. 

Mr Menal also advised that all airports would remain closed until the “all clear” has been given and a complete assessment of each airport is conducted. 

Further information will be provided on the reopening of the airports subsequently.

Passengers with confirmed travel for August 16 and 17, 2025, have been asked to contact their respective airlines directly for further information.
