VG man 'fesses up' to assaulting 10 year-old!
Charles, whose trial began on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, was charged with three counts of indecent assault. However, after pleading guilty to one of the counts – the Crown offered no evidence on the remaining two.
He is now on remand until he is sentenced on March 22, 2012.
Only police witnesses testified, before the trial came to an end.
The Virgin Gordian resident, a former boat captain at Bitter End, allegedly took the Virtual Complainant (VC) to his home on December 3, 2010. It was there, the Crown contends, that he allegedly invited the minor to his bedroom and touched her on her private parts.
The incident came to light when the VC informed her mother of the alleged incident, prompting police to investigate.
Charles was represented by Herbert McKenzie while Crown Counsel Sarah Benjamin appeared for the Crown.
Judge Rita Olivetti presided over the trial.
Meanwhile, the next trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 13, 2012 and involves Wendell Varlack – the driver accused of causing the death of Toficha Thompson in 2010.
