ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Active COVID-19 cases in the Virgin Islands (VI) have reached 61 with 1 hospitalization according to the latest epidemiology report from the Government of the Virgin Islands (VI).

This comes as Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone had said it was troubling that a large number of cases in the VI had originated in the community.

According to the latest epidemiology report, for testing done on September 23, and reported on the 24th, some 43 of the total active cases were detected in close contacts of existing cases with 15 on Tortola and a whopping 46 in Virgin Gorda.

It remains unclear what measures have been taken to contain the spread of the virus on the sister island, however, sources have indicated that the majority of cases may have originated at one location.

To date, some 81,711 test samples from 76,446 persons were tested at the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital Laboratory in the VI.

@ Musa: If we do as you have suggested that we do, Musa, where will we get additional monies to pay some lazy overpaid civil servants, I am refering to those that don't work for their current pay check, and feed people for three weeks? Did not you said that you are a man of God? If you really are, you would know before you suggested a 21 days lockdown that it is counter productive to good governance in the B.V.I. Sorry, next.

When Tortola had 1500 cases you didn't lock them down. Can't and won't happen. The clubs they visited when they shouldnhave been closed should be punished

Why aren’t they stating the source of the outbreak?
    • @SMH (25/09/2021, 23:57) Like (0) Dislike (2) Reply
Because the vaccines are now labeled as preventing symptomatic infection.

Reading between the lines that means it does not prevent asymptomatic infection and it’s spread.

We are going by the script “they” are feeding the world instead of using our heads as they did at first when there was no vaccine available.

Now logic & common sense have been replaced by ideology of a righteous panacea which in reality has short comings.

I am able, by the power of God's grace, understand the many anxieties that frustrating our current political Administration, spiritually, mentally, socially, and economically. But who are to blame, they partially know who, and they partially know why. They were offered told who, and they were oftened told why, but they have ignored God's warning in favour of material gains. So before now, and now, and forever God's Wil be done.
"Forever Oh Lord Your Word is settled in heaven." Earth cannot prevent it from being settled in it.

    Covid-19 virus new spike
It is true that we have to make adjustments to the covid-19 virus situation that we are experiencing in our country. Unfortunately, many of us are still denying that the covid-19 virus is real. Because of this self-embraced deception, our health situation remain unstable, better yet kept at a minimum. Unfortunately, this may not happen soon, or maybe not, mostly because we have regarded the riches of dead material things over the richness of Almighty God our Creator and true Father righteousness.
Sadly, we have made the prickly beds of sin, caused by our own covetousness, now we must pay the price of our chosen.

This is not an event situation. Almost everyone who did a Covid test on Thursday September 23 at VG facility came back positive, even for travel purposes. Suspected foul play, Dr was well protected with PPE, but was the patients? Was there a change of gloves between patients after each swabs? Imagine someone positive breathe on a gloves the its use to open and administerd a new swab on other patients. These test should be done twice before posting statistics!

VG is too small to have so many active cases who is enforcing COVID19 measures overthere? It looks like no one. There is a COVID19 Suppression Task Force on Tortola. I expect that this would have extended to the sister islands. I heard there are persons breaking quarantine and isolation restrictions and nothing been done to enforce suppression measures. I urge the health dept to get over there and have law and order surrounding the community's health enforced

Look at Litttle Nevis about the szme size with Virgin Gorda, up to over a hundred...All those other caribbean countries going over 1000 active cases....We in the BVI are not doing bad, of course we can do better. I think 95% of the BVI people are following the Protos and we have a high percentage of fully Vax, around 70% of the adult population is fully vax.. our people need to be praised..

Really? I agree with “Wow”, you don’t need to single out VG. When it’s something positive they take the credit, “ Road Town, Tortola. On the other hand if something negative you emphasize & labeled that particular island. That’s wrong.....

@ Musa: What experience are you talking about Musa?
Offr us your proof, if you have any, that Virgin Gorda is too small to have so many covid-19 virus positive persons. Virgin Gorda presently hs in excess of two thousand persons living on the Island. Why then are 46 positive covid-19 virus cases too many? Musa, please stop exposing yourself ingnorantly to the general public.
