VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- The sun was scorching but that did not stop participants and spectators of the VG Easter Festival Parade from having a grand time on Monday, April 10, 2023.

The Parade, led by Parade Marshall and Easter Festival honouree Dawn Flax, started around 1:15 PM on Lee Road and proceeded to the Virgin Gorda Recreational Ground.

Among the participants were 'We Jamming Five Stars' of Little Dix Bay Resort, De Lytes Festival Troupe, which was dedicated to the memory of the late Darleen Henry and Show Stoppers Dance Group of St Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Politicians participate

It's election season and, of course, the politicians seeking office were out and about.

Virgin Islands Party (VIP) Ninth District Representative Hon Vincent O Wheatley, along with 8th District Candidate L. Allen Wheatley, was part of the parade procession. The two were seen distributing much-needed refreshments to combat the heat.

Also in the procession was Ninth District Candidate Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles (AL) of Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM).

There was also a National Democratic Party (NDP) branded truck distributing refreshments, while members of the NDP, including Hon Marlon A. Penn (R8) and At Large candidates Lorna G. Smith, OBE and Dr Kedrick D. Pickering, followed on foot.

The procession grew along the way as other revellers joined in.

Persons lined the streets, with cameras out, to catch the action live and direct.

It was one of the smallest parades seen on Virgin Gorda in recent years but was nothing short of energy, excitement...and heat!
