Well-equipped space- Mr Marcus E. Solomon
He also said this new space is part of the department’s mission to provide much-needed facilities for the staff.
The office was commissioned in early February 2025.
According to Mr Solomon, “The space is now equipped with an office space, rest room and shower facilities as well as a lunch room. This upgrade was necessary as we continue to enhance our waste management services.”
Remember to recycle- Mr Marcus E. Solomon
Mr Solomon also took the opportunity to remind persons in the communities across the Virgin Islands to continue their recycling efforts.
“Start by separating plastics and glass and ensure that they are bagged…You can also compost your organic waste and drop off your plastics or glass at any or our conveniently located recycling stations throughout the Territory,” he advised.
Businesses are also reminded that they can take their recyclables directly to Paraquita Bay in the case of plastics or to Pockwood Pond in the case of glass for recycling.
The scheduled days for the collection of recycling bags at bins are as follows:
- Virgin Gorda – Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- Jost Van Dyke – Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
- Tortola – Daily

Working very well until you all have to start paying for it. Nothing in life is free don't mind all the sweet talking and promises they tell or make you. There is a whole lot more to this than meets the eyes.
They close the dump from Saturday at noon till Monday morning! This is when most landscaping work happening. Workers making $8 an hour working second jobs just to pay rent.
Baging up garbage separately for recycling that gets buried at the dump is beyond dumb. At least the old system allows people to take items they can use. Now everything gets plowed over every day.
