VALLEY, Virgin Gorda, VI- As a result of rough sea conditions today, January 20, 2020, the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) in a release said it had to close the Virgin Gorda ferry and cargo dock earlier this morning.

"As of 10 am the dock has been reopened for Cargo operations. It is anticipated that the dock will reopen for ferry operations at 12noon today," the release said.

In apologising for the inconvenience, the Ports Authority said the terminal and warehouse, however, are opened as per regular business hours.

It remains unclear if operations will continue for the entire business day.

The Virgin Islands Department of Disaster Management (DDM) in a weather update said a frontal trough is affecting the area and will continue to produce cloudiness and showers across the islands resulting in rough sea conditions until tonight.
