VG Bayside Blazers to participate in 2026 King of the Courts Tournament

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- The 2025 Championship Team VG Bayside Blazers has announced its participation in the 2026 King of the Courts Basketball Tournament. The team will return to the Caribbean Championship tournament hosted by Mr Steve E. Parillon.

The popular basketball tournament with a $30 thousand purse, with $5000 going to charity, will see some of the best local players from Virgin Gorda.

The Manager and Owner of Team VG Bayside Blazers, Julian Willock, said he is returning with 10 players, and the coaches have made some changes to the team. Half the players are from Virgin Gorda, including Shamarr A. George, Kimani T. Stevens, Randy M. George, and Killven M. Samuel.

The team Head Coach is Virgin Gordian Mr Trevor M. Stevens, aka ‘West’, and the assistant Coach is Mr Derrick R. Varlack, both of whom were at the helm last year, giving the team the 2025 championship in the King of the Courts tournament. 

Many of the players from last year are back with the team, including Ronald E. Delph, with other players who have played with Bayside Blazers over the years in St Maarten, like Adrian D. Joseph, and Anthony J. H. Smith.

'We are ready to win'- Willock

A few new players have joined the team this year, including Alante M. Fenner, Arnold M. Louis, and Nicholas D. J. Faust. Mr Willock noted that "we are ready to win but will never take the competition for granted" as there are some strong teams in the tournament, including Tortola, the two teams from the USVI (St Croix & St Thomas) and the Dominican Republic team.

The games are to start on June 2, 2026, and run through June 7, 2026, at the Multipurpose Sports Complex in Road Town, the capital city. Mr Willock thanked all those who have sponsored the VG Bayside Blazers and said: “We could not have done it without them...we remain humbled by their support”.
