ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The 2025 King of the Courts (KOTC) Caribbean Championships got off to a dramatic start at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex last evening, May 14, 2025, with VG Bayside Blazers securing a thrilling win over St Kitts in the opener and Tola blowing out Trinidad Warriors.

VG Bayside Blazers, known for their exploits on the local and regional scene, fell behind early but used their skill and experience to work their way back into the game and eventually triumphed 79-76 in a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire.

Tyohn D. Trimble led the Blazers’ scoring with 23 points and received good support from Raheem E. Carter (16 points), Ronald E. Delph (11 points) and Randy M. George (10 points). Defensively, Delph had an impressive 12 rebounds.

For St Kitts, Elton Walker top scored with 23 points.

VG Bayside Blazers, who are sponsored by Biras Creek Resort and Marina, and managed by former Speaker Julian Willock, are in action again tonight, against USVI in the feature game at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.

Tola destroy Trinidad Warriors

The other VI team in the championships, Tola, had the honour of playing in the feature game. They did not disappoint, defeating Trinidad Warriors 78-46.

Antwain Johnson led the Tola scoring with 15 points, while Tavon J. Phillip had 13 points, Kalu Ezikpe, 12 points, and Douran R. Phillip, 10 points.

Tyrik Singh, with 15 points, was the top scorer for Trinidad Warriors.

Tola will now face Statia in the third game this evening, May 15, 2025.

Other results

In the other games last evening, USVI beat Haiti 95-81, and Santo squeezed past Statia 57-56.

Nine countries are represented at this year's championships. The teams are competing for the Premier Cup and a $15,000.00 cash prize.

The first game tonight, Santo vs Trinidad, begins at 7:00 PM.

    Please people when you go to the games endure that all doors and windows are securely locked; avoid leaving valuable items inside vehicles where they are visible and, whenever possible, park vehicles in secure and well-lit areas.

    Can someone explain why BVI have a team from Tola and VG.. are we not one BVI?
