SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- It will be 'the mother of all games' come Saturday, June 21, 2025, around 10:00 PM, when 2025 King of the Courts Champions Virgin Gorda Bayside Blazers are challenged to a rematch by USVI Élites, a team that the Blazers have beaten already.

It all came about two weeks ago when there was a rematch between the Tola team and the USVI. It was because of a “bad call” by a referee during the tournament over a shot that later was found out to be a four-pointer, and which resulted in the USVI losing the game. USVI, in the end, won the rematch game 100-91.

Then, a challenge was placed to the championship team, VG Bayside Blazers, to play USVI Elites; however, the manager of the team, Mr Julian Willock, made it clear he would be interested once the purse was $20,000.00.

“I just became the champion for fifteen thousand dollars, why would I go down?" Mr Willock opined.

Mr Steve E. Parillon, the promoter of the King of the Courts tournament, was able to raise the $20, 000.00. Now, the game is set for this coming Saturday at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, where the winner takes all.

'We come to win & win big!'- Willock

In an invited comment, VG Bayside Blazers owner Julian Willock said, “While one of two of my guys may not make it, the main players will be here and, mark my words, the Championship title will stay in the Virgin Islands”.

He encouraged all to come out to the game and “make loud noise for your hometown team VG Bayside, as we're going to make the Territory proud.”

Mr Willock noted that he has the best coaching staff and players, and "we come to win and win big".

Asked to give a response, the coach of USVI Elites, Lanese Bough, opted for silence.

Mr Willock noted that his kind sponsors made it possible because many of his players are living overseas, including Randy M. George and Kimani T. Stevens, and it is costly to fly them in. There is also the additional expense for the hotel, meals and other items to ensure the team is comfortable. The team's Head Coach is Trevor M. Stevens, aka ‘West’, with Derrick R. Varlack as the Assistant Coach.

The sponsors of the VG Bayside Blazers Basketball Team for the rematch game are Biras Creek Resort, Nanny Cay Hotel and Marina, Caribbean Insurers, Tortola Auto Group (TAG), Skelton Group of Companies, Nagico Insurance, Gumption's Experience BVI, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9), Omar’s Café-Nanny Cay, Caribbean Cellars, Quality Construction and Creative Buildings.

How unfair these people are not from Virgin Gorda this is totally unfair. This is not a true reflection of Virgin Gordians playing USVI team who is made up of only USVI residents. We must do better!!!!!
