VG Bayside Blazers continue unbeaten run in ‘District League’

- outplayed Skillful Ballers 78-60 on Saturday, September 4, 2021 to remain unbeaten after 8 games

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The VG Bayside Blazers, managed by Honourable Julian Willock who is no stranger to managing championship teams, have extended their unbeaten run in the BVI Basketball Federation (BVIBF) National ‘District’ League to eight wins.

The Blazers’ latest scalp was Skillful Ballers who they destroyed 78-60 at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on September 4, 2021.

All-round effort for Blazers

It was an all-round effort as VG Bayside Blazers demonstrated they have a very balanced team of players who can step up to the plate on any night.

Top scoring for Blazers was Demoi Bradley with 16 points and Travis A. Isaac with 14.

Shamar A. George (10 rebounds), Gary Hillhouse and Ellian O’Neal all ended with 10 points apiece

Dwayne Stoutt put up a resistance with a game-high 32 points for Skillful Ballers. Dione A. Blyden had 15 points and 15 rebounds.

VG Bayside Blazers of District 9 are the only unbeaten team in the Senior Division of the league. They have one more game in hand in the preliminary round.

Mega Mix remain in the mix

Mega Mix of District 2 is the only team to have lost once while other teams have lost three times or more.

Mega Mix clinched victory from East Rockers by a score of 84-81also on Saturday.

The ever formidable Douran Phillip netted a whopping 34 points and pulled 13 rebounds. Tavon Phillip chipped in with 21 points and 15 rebounds.

Romain D. Minott led East Rockers with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Wins for Filipinas, Guns & Z6ne

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, Filipinas, through a 25-point game from Dreyonte Finley and a 22-point performance from Delbert Samuel (16 rebounds), overcame DA 3rd 98-64.

Kymal T. Pancho led DA 3rd with 18 points in a losing effort.

In game 2, Ray D. Victor top scored with 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Guns shot down Hawks 91-74.

Kyle Abraham netted 23 and pulled 12 rebounds also for Guns while his teammate Rowan Victor supported with 18.

Damian Hooper top-scored for Hawks with 20 points and had 10 rebounds.

In the final game of the evening, Z6ne, led by Mikey Joseph, who had 21 points and 13 rebounds, edged A’s 77-75.

Javon Demmings had a game-high 24 points and 12 rebounds in a vain effort.

League resumption

On Friday, September 3, 2021, the league resumed with 2 games.

Z6ne Bay Youths, with 19 points and 10 rebounds from Jaquon Hodge, beat Jr East Rockers in a Jr Division game and Z6ne downed Hawks.
