Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro & wife captured by U.S.
U.S. President, Donald J. Trump, announced Maduro’s capture on Truth Social, where he wrote, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader."
CBS News reported that U.S. officials told them Maduro was captured during the early hours of Saturday, January 3, 2025, by members of Delta Force, the U.S. military’s top special unit. This unit is also responsible for the 2019 mission that killed former Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Proof of life demanded
Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez demanded proof of life for Maduro as well as his location while speaking on the country’s state-run TV, soon after the Venezuelan leader was captured.
Democratic Senator Ruben Gallego of Arizona, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, wrote on X, "This war is illegal,” and called it the “second unjustified war in my lifetime. Gallego was deployed to Iraq.
Republican Senator Mike Lee of Utah also posted on X, writing, “I look forward to learning what, if anything, might constitutionally justify this action in the absence of a declaration of war or authorisation for the use of military force.”
Venezuelan military forces deployed
Meanwhile, Venezuelan Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino López revealed that military forces are being deployed across the country, following the U.S. strikes.
A state of emergency has been declared.
He called the situation "the worst aggression” against Venezuela and called for a united front of resistance.
"They've attacked us, but they will not subdue us,” López said. He called for calm and unity while warning against anarchy and disorder.
“Let’s not succumb to the panic the enemy seeks to instil,” he cautioned Venezuelans.

Man, just look at the mission undertaken and Trumps statement, “Maduro will never threaten another American again”.
Maduro is already convicted and no one will go against Trumps will.
