Vendors Galore! Sold out stands @ Easter Fest Food Fair
With a much scaled down feature of activities this year 2019, than previous years, the vendors who turned out to the event still reported tremendous response and ‘sold out’ stands with many residents and visitors soaking up the sun and the various local and international foods.
Present on the ground was Acting Premier and Minister responsible for Culture, Dr. the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) aka ‘Sowande Uhuru’ who expressed delight at the resilience of those who made the event possible.
On-site also was Ninth District Representative, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley who mixed and mingled amongst the crowd while local entertainers Leon and the Hotshots band and also a local steel pan band provided music.
Humble O’Neal
The festival this year will honour Mr Roy L. O'Neal who was described as a very quiet and humble man. However, he told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) that when he got word that he is the honoree for 2019, he now has to put aside the humbleness and “come out of his shell”.
"I have a lot to say. I will be talking because I was happy from the time they told me [I am] an honouree… But I want everybody to be safe, have clean fun, drink up safe, party safe, and give God praise too," he said.
He also noted that this year he will not be on a bicycle but rather, on a truck and is excited about his costume being prepared for use in the grand parade.
Tales from the Past
"Man I going be sharp. I could tell you story from back many years and I will tell things when I get on stage," Mr O’Neal assure.
The festival activities continue next weekend with the fishing tournament on Saturday, April 20, 2019, and also the Annual Easter Had Parade the following day, Sunday.
