ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - A driver escaped without injuries when his vehicle overturned after he reportedly ran into the warning light ahead of the traffic lights in the vicinity of the Moorings on the dual carriageway in Road Town on the main island of Tortola, minutes ago today, March 11, 2012.

When this news agency arrived on the scene, the driver who appeared shaken, was standing next to his vehicle and seemed unhurt. Police were on the scene taking measurements.

Virgin Islands News Online approached the driver who did not state his name but only commented that he was alright and “I just lost control”.

He was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

According to unconfirmed reports, the Nissan sports car was heading in an easterly direction when it ran into the warning traffic signal and overturned unto the side of the road.

Virgin Islands News Online will bring you more details as it becomes available.

it will be interest to know the real caused of the accident beside the driver saying he lost control. The conner before you reach the stop light by the moorings needs to be looked at...... something needs to be done about it, if not I dont think that will be the last accident there God guide us all.

The speed limit is 20 mph, if he lost control at that speed and did that damage he shouldnt have a licence. If and more likely he was speeding i hope he pays for the damaged pole and is charged with wreckless driving. Too many idiots on the road.

Some of these drivers need to understand that the traffic signal before the red light is important to give everybody a warning to stop or go. I notice some drivers routinely disregard that warning signal...that has been the cause of some near misses!!!!

every minute their seems to be an auto accident. The DMV needs to do educational campaign for drivers...I heard VG is the same thing. I also notice that the round-about at port Purcell is usually a mess as some people still do not understand there is two lanes most people just takes up both lanes...me surprise more accidents does not happen there.,

Glad the driver is okay. Sorry about the car man, can't say I ever saw you driving recklessly or speeding. Sad to see a beaut of car end up that way.
