PARAQUITA BAY, Tortola, VI- A vehicle ploughed into two utility poles at Paraquita Bay early this morning, Sunday, April 26, 2026, knocking out power in East End and Virgin Gorda.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are unclear, and it is also unclear whether anyone was injured.

Power to East End was restored after a couple of hours; however, an update from the BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) at 10:50 AM stated that efforts were still going to return electricity to customers of Virgin Gorda.

“While full restoration was originally anticipated by 9:30 AM, a further unforeseen issue was identified at the substation on Virgin Gorda during the restoration process, which has extended the duration of the works.

“Our teams continue to work diligently to restore power to Virgin Gorda as soon as possible,” BVIEC stated.
