ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- In what might have been quite a scare for the occupants, a Suzuki XL 7 vehicle reportedly caught on fire on Ridge Road in the Belle Vue area around 4:15 p.m. yesterday January 5, 2012.

Reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online is that the vehicle was travelling in the direction of Road Town when the engine caught on fire.

According to the Department of Fire Services, no one was injured. The cause of the fire is unknown and the Fire Services Department was unable to say at the time they were contacted.

It was reported that persons in the area assisted in putting the fire out but the engine was badly burnt before they were able to successfully extinguish the flames.

Virgin Islands News Online had also reported in June about an incident in Sea Cows Bay where the engine of a sports car suddenly burst into flames, a stone’s throw away from the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School.

It was not clear what may have caused the fire as the driver himself was baffled. Luckily for him though he was able to get assistance with putting the fire out before it could have engulfed the car. No one was injured.

This is a big problem, because I see a lot of young people experimenting on these cars rather that taking them to a professional, but then again the profession wants to dig your eyes out of the sockets with the prices (when come to fing out they haven't done much to fix the problem). Someone needs to address this problem and let's see some price control sanctions

the world has gotten smaller, eventhough they bring them in you don't have to buy them. If you think that's the problem, then you stop buying them and they will stop bringing them. Couldn't it be the fault of the buyers who have chosen to buy cheap cars off the internet, not knowing the true history of the car?
