ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Bolstered by a noisy home crowd that numbered nearly 700 persons at A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground, the Virgin Islands Senior Men’s Team put in a solid performance against Cayman Islands and seemed headed for victory but were held to a 1-1 draw in their CONCACAF Nations League game this afternoon, Friday, June 3, 2022.

The home side always threatened to score and after a goalless first half, Skipper Kavon Troy Caesar send the home crowd, which numbered 691, into a frenzy after a corner kick was headed closer to goal by one of his teammates and Caesar leapt to head the ball into the back of the nets in the 63rd minute.

Cayman Islands would; however, equalize in the 81st minute of play through substitute striker Sirus Connelly, who tapped in a ball that was sent across the face of goal.

The visitors’ goal came when the VI were a man short in defence due to injury.

Always some fool who don’t know what they are talking about. The coach is an exceptional coach and the BVI FA very lucky to have him. But no disrespect. SMH

Well done to the players and coaches, especially for proving everyone wrong who doubted them in the previous article. I know they will be disappointed with a draw having been up 1-0 but there’s always room for improvement and it’s a great sign for the future of BVI football. Very proud of the guys.
