USVI police searching for men who forced cat to smoke marijuana
FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI— The [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) is seeking the community's assistance to identify and locate two men who were seen on video forcing a cat to smoke marijuana, according to police spokesman Toby Derima.
According to the VIPD release, on September 27, 2020, the VIPD's Animal Cruelty Investigator received a report regarding a possible animal cruelty video that was posted on Facebook.
The video, shot on St Croix, US Virgin Islands (USVI), shows a male individual forcibly introducing what appears to be marijuana smoke to a cat, according to police. The forced ingestion seemed to cause partial paralysis and instability to the cat. The male was shirtless and he wore a gold pendant, light color jeans, and checkered black-and-white slippers in the video, Mr Derima said. He is described as a light-brown complexion individual and wears his hair in an afro in the video.
A second individual is seen holding the cat during the incident. This individual has tattoos on his forearm.
VIPD said it needs assistance from the public in identifying the individuals seen on the video, and where this act was committed. Everyone with information is urged to call 911, the Animal Cruelty Investigator at (340) 778-2211, or Crime Stoppers USVI at (800) 222-TIPS.
