USVI makes Monkeypox vaccine available to at-risk persons

FREDERIKSTED, St Croix, USVI- The [US] Virgin Islands (USVI) Department of Health (DoH) said Monday night, August 22, 2022, that it has started making available monkeypox vaccines by appointment only throughout the territory to at-risk populations.

To date, no monkeypox cases have been confirmed in the USVI, but DoH has sent a total of ten samples for testing, with eight returning negative and two pending, local health officials said Monday.

DoH categorised the following as at-risk for monkeypox: 

  • Persons who have been in intimate/close contact with someone who is confirmed to have monkeypox within 2 weeks.

Persons who are more likely to be exposed to Monkeypox and who meet the following criteria for vaccination for Monkeypox prevention:

  • Laboratory workers
  • Emergency room clinical staff
  • Public health and urgent care clinical staff
  • Emergency first responders
  • Severely immunocompromised
  • Men who have sex with men
  • Anyone with 2 or more sexual partners in the past 3 months
  • Anyone using street drugs during sex
  • Anyone who has had syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomonas, or any other acute sexually transmitted infection in the past 3 months
  • Anyone incarcerated in the past 3 months 
  • Anyone who has attended a sex party or visited a group sex site in the past 3 months
  • Sex workers

The health department said anyone who is eligible and interested in receiving the vaccine can call the Communicable Diseases Division Clinic for eligibility confirmation and scheduling of vaccination through the DOH Clinics. Contact number for both districts: 340-774-9000, extension 4663.

      The only thing we are at risk for is to keep shooting this garbage into our bodies. How many of you keep taking shot after shot and still got Corona Virus? A lot of us who are considered high risk did not take any shots and we never got infected! We wore our masks, stayed distances apart, washed our hands, and didn't mingle in large crowds. We are surviving just fine in the past 2 1/2 years. Give our doses to those who want to keep topping up. Time will tell when all of these fast remedies rear their ugly heads inside of your bodies.

    Monkey pox just came about; it makes me wonder how did the US get a vaccine so quickly. I know about the small pox vaccine that have been around for decades though we no longer give it here..

    Well, well. These wicked people are creating viruses faster than mankind can blink their eyes. How many vaccines can one take into their system? This is a blatant crime against humanity. I hope that those who had fallen prey to the COVid-19 vaccines 1,2, and booster do not fall prey to this again. Trust me, they are coming out with even more viruses to get you to take their vaccines and get sick, and then their bank accounts become richer. We are living in the Endtimes. Look up, our Redemption draweth nigh! Those of us that surrender to God, of course.

      You and all the others that are in this belief that's it's gay men,lesbians that are spreading monkey pox need to be educated about it before here spewing B's. Monkey pox can be spread through handling money from a contaminated persons,surfaces, clothing, so try and understand, also monkey pox has been out since the 50's so this is not new disease. Educated oneself by reading and understanding before blogging B's. No wonder the outer world view us the way they do.

    Well sah!! They targeting these groups of people now. All hell will broke out up Balo if ayo try to vaccinate some of them prisoners! Lord, we need you! This is the Endtimes. They are not going to stop. Another virus will come out after this one. You realise we not hearing a word about the Covid-19, Omnicron, B-4-B-5??? They can't keep up with the lies so they bringing out others to get you to take that vaccine. It will never end until Jesus comes.
